Zoe & Jarred | Elegant Black & White Wedding at Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau, WI

From middle school soccer teammates to soulmates, Zoe and Jarred’s wedding day was a breathtaking celebration of love, family, and timeless elegance.

We had the absolute honor of photographing Zoe & Jarred’s incredible day, and we’re thrilled to share more of their story and inspiration behind their May 31st wedding in Marshfield and Wausau, Wisconsin. Their wedding wasn’t just stunning—it was uniquely them, filled with heartfelt traditions, clever personal touches, and unforgettable moments we’ll be talking about for years to come.

How It All Began

Zoe and Jarred first met back in middle school when they played on the same soccer team. After a brief middle school romance, their story picked up again at the end of high school—and this time, it stuck.

Jarred proposed during a post-Christmas road trip to Texas. He planned an elaborate proposal in Dallas… only to discover the location he booked was a bit of a letdown (a classic case of online catfishing). Ever the quick thinker, he pivoted to a nearby Christmas light display, notified the secret photographer of the location change, and asked Zoe to marry him beneath the twinkle of festive lights. Her answer? A joyful, immediate yes!

A Vision of Timeless Elegance

Zoe has always gravitated toward a black and white color palette—sophisticated, chic, and timeless. For the wedding, she elevated that look with touches of gold, bringing in warmth and refinement to their design. From her Eva Lendel gown from My Darling Bridal to the crisp white florals from Inspired by Nature and the golden accents at Jefferson Street Inn, the day struck the perfect balance of bold, classic, and elegant.

Their goal? A wedding that felt refined, romantic, and emotionally resonant without relying on fleeting trends. Every detail, from soft candlelight to the mirrored signage, was chosen to reflect that vision—and it all came together beautifully.

Personal Touches That Made It Their Own

Zoe and Jarred poured their personalities into their day in the most charming ways.

  • Trivia Kissing Menu: Instead of the traditional clinking of glasses, guests could choose to answer trivia questions about the couple. If they answered correctly, they were rewarded with a kiss from the bride and groom!

  • Lyric Mirrors: Throughout the reception, mirrors were etched with lyrics from first dance contenders that didn’t make the final cut—a poetic tribute to their shared love of music and meaningful moments.

  • Flower Grandmas: In one of the most touching parts of the day, Zoe invited her two living grandmothers to serve as her flower girls. Neither had ever done it before, and seeing them proudly walk down the aisle ahead of her was as special to them as it was to her.

  • A Family Heirloom Tradition: Zoe wore the same diamond necklace her aunt had lent her sister on her wedding day—turning it into a treasured new family tradition.

Favorite Moments from the Day

There were so many standout moments from Zoe & Jarred’s wedding, but a few especially stayed with us:

  • Their vows during the Catholic ceremony at St. John the Baptist in Marshfield were deeply moving—a joyful and sacred exchange witnessed by 300 loved ones.

  • The dinner speeches brought out the best in everyone—from laughs to tears to full-blown performances. Zoe’s parents stole the show with a surprise lip sync act, complete with props and costumes, to celebrate their 30+ years of marriage. It was legendary.

  • The dance floor never slowed. With Shattered Sound DJ spinning, the energy from guests—from first song to last—was pure celebration. The joy was palpable and contagious.

Words of Wisdom for Future Couples

Zoe’s advice is simple and true:

“It goes by way faster than you think! Soak it all in and be appreciative of the people in your life who are helping you through.”

A Love Story We’ll Never Forget

From the heartfelt moments to the perfectly executed design to the pure fun of it all, Zoe and Jarred’s wedding was one of those days that reminds us why we do what we do. It’s always a gift to walk alongside our couples during such a meaningful chapter of their lives—but this one will stay with us for a long, long time.

Zoe & Jarred—thank you for trusting us to tell your story. We are cheering you on as you write the next beautiful chapters of your journey together.

With love,
James & Katie
