Set near Lake Pepin along the Great River Road, the working winery is built around stone columns, terracotta roof tiles, wrought-iron details, vineyard rows, and a fountain at the center of an Italian-style piazza.
Wedding ceremonies can take place in the open-air Vineyard Pavilion, where tall stone columns frame the surrounding vines. Larger receptions move into the Great Hall beneath dramatic wooden trusses, with the winery stating that the room can accommodate more than 300 guests.

Built in 1923 and modeled on a sixteenth-century northern Italian Renaissance villa, the property sits above Lake Michigan with formal Renaissance gardens descending toward the water.
Its original name, Sopra Mare—“above the sea”—feels especially appropriate once you stand on the terraces.
The Mercury Courtyard adds vaulted loggia architecture, Tuscan columns, grilled windows, and a fountain. The relationship between villa, gardens, elevation, architecture, and water is what makes the Lake Como comparison more than simply an aesthetic reference.

The Fitzgerald
Formerly known to many Milwaukee couples as Villa Filomena, The Fitzgerald offers a different interpretation of the Italian-villa wedding.
Built in 1874, the historic mansion is Italianate rather than a literal Tuscan villa. Arched architectural details, intimate parlors, chandeliers, a grand staircase, and a vine-filled courtyard give the property an unmistakably old-world character.
For couples who want the feeling of an intimate European residence without leaving downtown Milwaukee, it is one of the strongest fits in the city.

The result is an extraordinary lakefront residence with classical proportions, limestone architecture, balustraded terraces, and sweeping Geneva Lake views.
Visually, few Wisconsin properties combine monumental stone architecture, terrace, water, and evening light in quite the same way.

DC Estate Winery
DC Estate Winery is technically located in South Beloit, Illinois, but its position just across the Wisconsin border makes it relevant to couples throughout southern Wisconsin.

How We Photograph Italian-Inspired Wedding Venues
We are drawn to these properties for the same reason many of our couples are: the setting already has a point of view.
It does not need to be transformed into something else.
Our approach is to use the architecture, natural light, movement, and relationships already present in the day. We photograph primarily with prime lenses and build portrait locations around the environment rather than fighting against it.
That may mean allowing a stone arch to frame a portrait instead of filling it with additional decor.
It may mean giving a couple space to walk instead of locking them into a pose.
Or it may mean protecting twenty minutes before sunset for the lakefront terrace rather than photographing it at two in the afternoon simply because an opening happened to exist in the schedule.
